first page of my comic posted + working on a zine

Posted by lookitslars - April 3rd, 2023

hello again! it's been a week and i definitely did not forget to post an update on my comic like i said i would two days ago. except i'm lying, and i totally did...

anyway, here's the first page! that's the main site. the profile page on the host is here.

here's the synopsis, in case you've already filled your quota on clicking links today:

"In a world where robots and humans coexist, the line is often blurred between the two. Now living alongside humanity, they begin their takeover - but not the violent uprisings you see on TV. Smarter, faster, and slightly less disposable than everyone else, these human-identical synthetics (called synths, for short) cause the jaded cop Milo Hayes to struggle even more in keeping his shitty government-appointed career with nowhere else to turn. When his department's chief suggests he looks into leads for the city's most notorious crime bosses, he's mortified. One of his suspects is a man he's knows - and fears - all too well.

Realizing he's now stuck between the two puppeteers of his life, he gets his friend and robotic roommate Phoebe to help him cut some strings."

if that sounds cool to you, please check it out! it would mean the work to me. it updates each saturday! this story is literally old enough to enroll in kindergarten and it's so cathartic to be able to truly bring it to life in my spare time.

i know the whole "cyberpunk" dystopian vibe it's giving off is somewhat overdone nowadays, but i'm definitely trying my best to and am proud to be subversive with it's story and tropes. it still has that social commentary aspect of a usual sci-fi dystopia but it's more focused on personable connections and the human (and adjacent) condition as well as world-building i've worked way too hard on to keep unique but still not overly convoluted.

i'm still working on some pieces and parts of it so there's a few issues i'm aware of and resolving around missing or odd looking content, but the site is still usable and everything i haven't polished isn't central to the comic. by the time you read this, most if not all of the issues i'm referring to might be resolved. still planning on posting on webtoon monthly as well as

and more comic-related news i didn't add to my last blog - i've been accepted for a zine with my co-writer and illustrator on most of my projects! more on that when it comes around, but it will be more oriented for the community on comicfury rather than here. still, if you're interested, i would love for you to check it out! the only thing i'll really say is that it's going to be a trippy mess with a psychedelic prompt and definitely not for anyone under the age of 18 due to adult themes.

also, as a footnote, happy early clock day on april fools!
